Pimlico Cleaners Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Pimlico Cleaners in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Pimlico Cleaners is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently and in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations relating to labour, human rights and worker welfare.
Modern slavery is a crime and a fundamental violation of human rights. It includes slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking. Pimlico Cleaners recognises that the cleaning and facilities services sector can be exposed to heightened risks of labour exploitation, particularly where subcontracting and temporary labour are involved. We are determined to identify, prevent and address these risks wherever they may arise.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Pimlico Cleaners has a clear zero-tolerance stance towards modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms. We will not knowingly engage with any individual, organisation or business involved in such practices. This commitment applies to our own operations, to all persons working for or on our behalf, and to every level of our supply chain, including suppliers, subcontractors, labour agencies and other business partners.
Our zero-tolerance policy is embedded in our internal codes of conduct, supplier expectations and contractual terms. Breach of these requirements may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, termination of contracts, and, where appropriate, reporting to relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Pimlico Cleaners provides professional cleaning services to commercial and residential customers. Our workforce includes directly employed staff and, in some circumstances, vetted subcontractors. Our supply chain primarily consists of providers of cleaning materials and equipment, workwear, and facilities-related services.
We understand that certain supply chain tiers may present higher risks due to the use of low-skilled labour, migrant workers or complex subcontracting structures. We therefore prioritise these areas for enhanced scrutiny, engagement and monitoring.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We conduct due diligence on existing and prospective suppliers to assess their compliance with labour, human rights and modern slavery standards. As part of our onboarding process, suppliers are required to confirm that they do not engage in modern slavery or human trafficking and that they have adequate controls in place to prevent such abuses.
Pimlico Cleaners undertakes risk-based supplier audits, which may include site visits, document reviews and interviews with relevant personnel. These audits are designed to verify working conditions, employment practices and the robustness of the supplier’s own procedures for identifying and addressing modern slavery risks.
Where issues are identified, we seek to work collaboratively with suppliers to implement corrective action plans within defined timeframes. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Pimlico Cleaners encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to report any concerns relating to modern slavery, human trafficking or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised through internal management channels or via our established whistleblowing mechanisms, which allow for confidential reporting.
We are committed to ensuring that no one who raises a concern in good faith suffers any form of retaliation or disadvantage. All reports are treated seriously and investigated promptly and impartially. Where appropriate, we will take remedial action and, if necessary, cooperate with law enforcement or regulatory authorities.
Training and Awareness
We provide training and guidance to relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, contract management and frontline supervision, to help them recognise signs of modern slavery and understand how to respond to any concerns. We periodically review our training materials to ensure they remain current and effective.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery programme sits with the senior management team of Pimlico Cleaners. They ensure that appropriate policies, procedures and controls are in place and that progress is reviewed on a regular basis.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually to assess the effectiveness of our actions, reflect any changes in our operations or risk profile, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Updates are approved at a senior level and communicated internally and externally to maintain transparency and accountability.
Pimlico Cleaners remains firmly committed to working with employees, suppliers, clients and other stakeholders to help eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking and to promote fair, safe and respectful working conditions throughout our operations and supply chains.
